# Add an Exchange Rate at the Workspace Level

If you are setting an exchange rate at the workspace level, then you have the option to inherit the account level exchange rates by checking the Inherit account rates checkbox. If the inherit account rates checkbox is checked you can’t add new currency exchange rates on the workspace level.

To create a new exchange rate at the workspace level complete these steps:

1. To the left of the navigation bar click your workspace name and then click the workspace setting gear icon.
2. In the workspace, menu select **Exchange Rates**.
3. Make sure that **Inherit account rates** isn’t selected. If this option is selected, you can’t add a currency exchange rate at the workspace level because it uses the exchange rate set at the account level.
4. To add an exchange rate, click the plus (**+**) icon and enter this information:

    1. Select the date range to use. The date range is the timespan specifying the currency conversion.
    2. Enter the value of the currency rate in relation to U.S. dollars.
    3. Select the currency from the dropdown.
    4. Click **Create**. The currency rate is added to your currency table.
