# MDP Facebook Ads API Connector

Facebook Ads is a platform on which users can purchase and manage advertising space on Facebook.

Facebook Ads is a Display channel connector. The data stream type is Ads and Conversion Tag, and data lagging is 1 day.

Additional information about the Facebook Ads connector:

- MDP retrieves the reach measurements, Reach and Social Reach, from Facebook as part of the Facebook Ads API. It’s best practice to use Facebook Ads Custom to retrieve unique measurements because the values in MDP might not match the aggregation seen in the Facebook Ads manager platform.
- MDP maps the Facebook Ads Measurements 3-Second Video Views to the Measurement Video Views. Video Views is the sum of 3-Second Video Views \[1 Day After Viewing\] and 3-Second Video Views \[7 Days After Clicking\].
- Data is retrieved in the time zone set in Facebook.

- **[MDP Create a Facebook Ads Data Stream](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mcidp_data_streams_api_connect_fb_create.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
To create and manage ads on Facebook programmatically, create a Facebook Ads data stream.

Define how to calculate reach data in the Facebook Ads custom API. Facebook uses user-level data to calculate reach. When a date or field is adjusted in Facebook, the granularity changes, and Facebook recalculates the reach value based on the new parameters. Processing historical reach data streams requires unique date ranges for each process. Set a unique reach value for each day based on the granularity. Every date must be processed separately to return the aggregated value for that date.

To report reach data correctly, you must map the data correctly. Consider these best practices for optimal results.

To retrieve Age and Gender breakdowns properly for reach data streams you must add a formula in the mapping.

After you set up reach, ensure that all parameters in the Facebook platform match the parameters and granularities set in Marketing Cloud Intelligence Data Pipelines.
