# Create a Data Source Authentication in MDP

Create a data source authentication manually via the Import tab so you can easily connect to different API connectors. During this process you can decide who has access to this authentication and who can create data streams with it.

1. On the **Import** tab, click **Data Source Authentication**.
2. Click **Add New**.
3. From the **Add Authentication** dropdown, select the name of the API connector you’re authenticating.
4. Click **Create**.
5. Enter the required details and then save your details.
6. Select who can view and use your credentials:

    - **Public** -Everyone can see and use these credentials.
    - **Shared** - Only specific users can access these credentials.
    - **Private** - Only the creator of this data source authentication can create and modify data streams with these credentials.
7. If you selected **Shared**, mark the email addresses of users who can access and share these credentials.
8. Select the level at which you want to share the API credentials, either account or workspace level.
9. Save your work.
