# Create Action Rules in the Activation Center

Action rules define how a rule is triggered. For example, the action can be triggered by time or by a specific event. You can create a rule for several actions.

1. On the Manage tab, click **Activation Center** and then **Action Rules** in the left panel.
2. Click **Create New**.
3. Name your rule.
4. From the dropdown, select the action that you want to apply the rule to. For example, an email action named Daily Update that sends daily email updates.
5. To add another action, click the **+** icon, and select the action from the dropdown.
6. Define the trigger By Time or By Event. Defining the trigger determines what prompts the action rule:
    1. **By Time** — Sets daily, weekly, or monthly triggers.
    2. **By Event** — Sets a KPI for a specific measurement. For example, you want to be notified when your Message Total Clicks drops below 100.
7. Apply filters. To narrow your results, you can apply a date range filter. For example, if you want your action rule to stop after 1 month, you can set the date range for 1 month.
8. To save your rule, click **Create Action Rules**.
