# Update Prospect Opt-In Status with a Form Handler

To mark a prospect as confirmed opt-in, create a form handler with a completion action to update the confirmed opt-in custom prospect field. The endpoint URL for the form handler is the confirmation link you include in your email to new subscribers. After the prospect clicks the link, the completion action updates the custom prospect field to confirm their opt-in status.

To complete this task, you need the URL for your confirmation page. You can [create a landing page](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.pardot_landing_pages_parent.htm&language=en_US) or use a page on your company website.

1. Open the Form Handlers page.
    - In Account Engagement, select **Marketing** | **Forms** | **Form Handlers**.
    - In the Lightning app, select **Content** and then select **Form Handlers**.
2. Click **\+ Add Form Handler**.
3. Name the form handler **Confirmed Opt-In**.
4. Select a folder and campaign for the form handler.
5. Select a custom tracker domain.

Don’t use the default domain go.pardot.com.
6. For Success Location, select **Specific URL** and enter the URL for your confirmation page.
7. For Error Location, enter the URL for your company website.
8. Under Completion Actions, click the **Action** dropdown and select **Set prospect custom field**.
9. Select the confirmed opt-in custom field that you created, and then select the field value.
10. Leave the remaining defaults fields as they are.
11. Click **Create form handler**.
12. From the form handler summary, copy the Endpoint URL for your form handler.

Next, create the email someone receives when they opt in asking them to confirm their subscription.
