# Add an Attribute to Einstein Recommendations

An attribute describes a product or content characteristic, such as color, dimension, brand name, subject, or author.

1. At the end of the column heading, enter the attribute name. Don’t include spaces in the attribute name.
2. Specify the attribute value at the end of the attribute value list.
    
    If an attribute has multiple values, separate them with a tilde (~). Each value can have up to 1,024 single-byte characters or 512 double-byte characters.

To delete a product, change its Online Availability attribute in the Catalog before uploading. For instance, in this example, change the Y in the field that precedes 59.99 to N. After you upload the catalog file, the N value prevents the product from showing up in product recommendations.
