# Assigning Marketing Roles

When you assign roles in Marketing Cloud Engagement, consider the jobs and tasks that each team member performs. Defining these tasks helps you determine the correct product roles and associated permissions to be assigned to each team member. Give each team member only the roles and permissions that are necessary to perform their job. This example reviews the roles and permissions assigned to a sample team from Northern Trail Outfitters.
