# Prerequisites to Using Beacons with MobilePush

Complete these steps before you can use beacons in MobilePush.

- Configure your beacon hardware according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
- Make sure that you have the newest version of the MobilePush (Journey Builder for Apps) SDK installed in your app. The SDK is available for [iOS](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/marketing/mobilepush/guide/ios-sdk-integration.html) and [Android](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/marketing/mobilepush/guide/android-sdk-integration.html) devices.
- Enable beacons in the MobilePush SDK for your app.
