# View or Delete Keywords in MobileConnect

View or delete a keyword in Marketing Cloud Engagement.

1. In the app switcher, hover over your name and click **Setup**.
2. Search for MobileConnect.
3. Click a short or long code to view its keywords.
4. To delete a keyword, click ![trashcan](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-mktg-mc_marketing_cloud_overview-264-0-0-production-enus/2555afdb-8049-4e3c-8043-0e04803e5f16/mc_marketing_cloud_overview/images/trashcan-icon.png).

Note You can't delete keywords related to messages in a Draft, Scheduled, or Active state. To delete any such keywords, take these actions:

- For a message in a Draft or Scheduled state, replace the keyword with a new keyword.
- For a message in an Active state, make your message inactive.
