# Use Cases

Use cases are things you can do in MobileConnect to expand its functionality and the reach of your messages.

Example

- Use the vote/survey template to create multi-question surveys
- Use the outbound, mobile opt-in, and info capture templates to send an offer after a customer sends in their information

- **[Use Next Keyword](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mc_moc_use_next_keyword.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Next Keyword sets up what the keyword for the next response should be. Contacts can text in without a keyword, and MobileConnect automatically appends the Next keyword to the contact’s response. You can use Next Keyword functionality to transition seamlessly from one message to the next, like a conversation. For example, enable the Next Keyword functionality on an outbound message to proceed to a text response message. When a subscriber receives the outbound message, that message includes a request for a response. The subscriber’s response triggers the text response message.
- **[Use Default Keyword](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mc_moc_default_keyword.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
The default keyword feature defines how MobileConnect handles unrecognized keywords. End users are prone to misspelling or responding to an SMS message as if there is a live person reading their responses. Default keyword is a great way to account for misspellings by end users or to get confused end users back on target.
- **[Send Automated Transactional Alerts](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mc_moc_send_transactional_sms_alerts.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Send automatic alerts about account activity using the MobileConnect outbound message template and a QueueMO REST API call.
- **[Send Automated Personalized Messages](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mc_moc_send_automated_dynamic_marketing_messages.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Use Automation Studio and the MobileConnect outbound message template to automatically send personalized messages in Marketing Cloud Engagement.
- **[Enable Web-Based Opt-in](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mc_moc_enable_web_based_opt_in.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Customers can sign up for mobile messages via a web form when a form, a mobile opt-in message, and the MobileConnect API are used to create the QueueMO REST API call.
- **[Use a Date-Based Send](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mc_moc_use_date_based_sending.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
You can send messages on significant dates for each of your contacts in Mobile
- **[Send Information to Conference Attendees](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mc_moc_provide_information_to_conference_attendees.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Invite conference attendees to subscribe to your SMS and email messages sent during the conference by using the outbound message, email opt-in, and mobile opt-in templates in MobileConnect.
- **[Create Multiple-Question Surveys](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mc_moc_create_multiple_question_surveys.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
String together multiple vote or survey messages in MobileConnect for Marketing Cloud Engagement.
- **[Add Contacts and Capture Their Information](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mc_moc_capture_customer_information_and_send_offer.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Store contact information using the MobileConnect mobile opt-in and info capture templates in Marketing Cloud Engagement.
- **[Request and Capture Customer Information](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mc_moc_request_and_capture_existing_customers_information.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Request and store customer information using the outbound and info capture templates in MobileConnect.
- **[Offer a Limited Number of Coupon Codes in MobileConnect](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mc_moc_offer_coupon_codes_via_ampscript.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
You can dynamically assign coupon codes using AMPscript and a data extension in Marketing Cloud Engagement.
- **[Connect Customers to Support from an Outbound Text Campaign](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mc_moc_switch_to_live_support.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
If a customer sends you a text message that doesn't contain any recognized keywords, you can use MobileConnect to connect the customer to a live support agent. In this scenario, the customer first receives an automated response. When a support agent becomes available, the agent responds to the customer's question via text message.
- **[Shorten URLs in SMS Message](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mc_moc_shorten_sms_links.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
In MobileConnect and Journey Builder, shorten single and multiple links to reduce the size of an SMS message. You can use either Bitly or the Marketing Cloud Engagement link shortener. Bitly tracks the total clicks for all subscribers. The Engagement shortener tracks the total clicks and unique clicks per subscriber.
- **[Use a DLT Template in an SMS Message](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mc_moc_use_dlt_template_in_sms.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
In MobileConnect and Journey Builder, use a DLT template in an Outbound message to simplify the campaign creation process.
- **[Message Content Considerations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mc_moc_message_content_considerations.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Some content considerations to keep in mind are character sets and character limits in MobileConnect.
