# Create a Content Builder Email

Create a Content Builder email through Email Studio Content.

Before following these instructions, confirm that you can access Content Builder.

1. Click **Content** in Email Studio.
2. Click **Create**.
3. Select a Create Email option.
4. Fill in the fields.
5. Click **Next**.
6. Enter a Subject.

    Note Enter a subject line before sending the email. The subject appears in the subject line of the email when the email is delivered. Insert personalization strings, select a symbol, or create dynamic content as needed.
7. If needed, enter a Preheader and customize using personalization strings, symbols, or create dynamic content
8. Build your email according to the type of email you are creating: [Template](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mc_es_build_email_from_template_using_content_builder_tools.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Use Content Builder to create an email from a template."), [HTML](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mc_es_build_email_from_html_using_content_builder.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Use Content Builder tools in Email Studio to build an email by pasting in HTML."), or [Text Only](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.mc_es_build_text_email_using_content_builder.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Use Email Studio Content Builder tools to build a text-email that displays as text only in your subscribers’ inbox, regardless of their display preferences. The open rate data is never reported for text-only emails.").
9. Click **Next**.
10. Complete the Subscriber Preview and Test Sending section.
11. Click the desktop and mobile icon to preview how the email displays on desktop and mobile devices.

    Note Emails created for mobile optimization adjust according to the screen size of the device the email is being viewed on.
12. Click **Layout** to preview the HTML version of the email.
13. Click **Plain Text** to preview the text version of the email received by people whose email clients are unable to accept HTML content.
14. Save or click the back arrow to exit without saving.
