# Create an SMS Send Logging Data Extension

Follow these steps to create an SMS send logging data extension in Contact Builder.

1. Click **Data Extensions**.
2. Click **Create**.
3. Choose the **Create From Template** option in the dropdown menu.
4. Choose **SmsSendLog** and click **Done**.
5. Click **Select**.
6. Enter the name, external key, and description for this data extension.
7. Leave the checkbox next to **Is Sendable?** unchecked.
8. Click **Next**.
9. Enter any applicable data retention policy information and click **Next**.
10. Create fields for list attributes or data extension fields to record in the send logging data extension. By default, the application adds these fields.
    - SMSJobID
    - SMSTriggeredSendID
    - BatchID
    - SubID
11. Click **Complete**.
