# Remove a User-Created Attribute

Follow these steps to remove a user-created attribute in Audience Builder. This process only removes a user-created attribute from Audience Builder and does not delete information from Contact Builder.

Removing a user-created attribute used by a published audience causes the next publish to fail. Modify the applicable audiences before removing the attribute.

1. Click **Setup**.
2. Click **Feature Settings**.
3. Click **Audience Builder**.
4. Click **Audience Builder Settings**.
5. Click **Manage Attributes**.
6. Click ![Delete Icon](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-mktg-mc_contact_data-264-0-0-production-enus/0e4d875c-8c8c-4be4-8f13-c8278eafbbf9/mc_contact_data/images/cab_deletede.png) next to the attribute to remove.
7. Confirm the deletion.
