# Custom Classifications in Marketing Cloud Intelligence

Custom classifications are cross channel entities that are present in all data streams. They allow you to link data streams together via an entity.

Custom classifications are attributes of the main entity in each data stream type. For example, in the Ads data stream type, ‘Custom Classification 1’ is an attribute of ‘Media Buy,’ whereas in the Social Object data stream type it’s an attribute of ‘Social Element’.

Custom classifications aren’t tied to a data stream, thus deleting the data stream doesn’t delete dimensional values already uploaded by that data stream. The dimensional values are present in your workspace, but aren’t connected to any measurement, and don’t affect your data or workspace row usage. If you need to delete dimensions that are related to custom classifications, you must manually remove them via the Dimension Explorer.
