# Classification Files

Use classification files when creating classification rules and to tell Marketing Cloud Intelligence how to classify the values.

For example, to categorize car models into these categories: SUV, Supermini, Family, Compact Crossover, and Subcompact. You can use any type of file format; however, you must have at least 2 headers and a maximum of 50 columns.

- **[Create a Classification File from Scratch](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=mktg.dato_harmonize_classify_files_create.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
When creating classification rules you either upload a classification file or you create it from scratch. The file tells Marketing Cloud Intelligence how to classify your data.
