# Delete a User in Marketing Cloud Intelligence

When a user creates an entity, that user is the entity owner. If an entity owner is deleted, the entities created by that user become unowned. Some entities, such as actions, report schedulers, and data streams with specific retrieval settings, require an owner to function properly. When a user is being deleted, Marketing Cloud Intelligence checks whether the user owns entities that require an owner. You can then assign the entity to a new owner to keep the entities functioning properly.

    Note

    - If you don’t want to delete a user you can disable a user. Disabled users can’t take any actions, but the entities still function properly. Disabled users are counted in the number of permitted users in the account.
    - You can assign each entity a different owner. When selecting a new owner for an entity the list of users will only include eligible owners.
5. Click **Next**, then **Done**.
