# Data Stream Templates in Marketing Cloud Intelligence

Use data stream templates to create a mapping template that you can replicate to create data streams. Store the template on the workspace or account level. You can share data stream templates between workspaces and accounts. The data stream template saves formulas used in the original data stream.

Use data stream templates when you create an API connector and the API connection requires custom formulas that are used in more than one data stream. We recommend creating a template specifically for that API connector. Use this template when you create a new API data stream of the same source.

    You can create a data stream template for a TotalConnect data stream or an API data stream. To create an API data stream you must have at least one template for the source in your workspace.
