# Adding a Date in the Mapping Process

If your file doesn’t include a date in any of the fields, you can add a date in the mapping process, without having an existing date field in your file.

### Required Editions

<table class="slds-table slds-table_bordered slds-max-medium-table_stacked slds-m-bottom_small permission">
        <colgroup>
          <col style="width:50%">
          <col style="width:50%">
        </colgroup>
        <thead class="slds-text-title_caps ">
          <tr class="">
            <th scope="colgroup" class="slds-cell-wrap" colspan="2" style="text-align:center;vertical-align:top;" id="d20624e38">User Permissions Needed</th>
          </tr>
        </thead>
        <tbody>
          <tr class="">
            <td data-label="User Permissions Needed" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" headers="d20624e38 ">To add a date in the mapping process:</td>

            <td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" headers="d20624e38 ">Admin</td>

          </tr>
        </tbody>
      </table>

1. From the **Connect & Mix** tab, select **Data Streams**, and then **Data Streams List**.
2. Click **Create New**, and upload your file.
3. In the **Map to Model** window click **Date** to add a date field, and apply a formula in the formula editor.

    There are several date formulas you can apply.

    <table class="slds-table slds-table_bordered slds-max-medium-table_stacked slds-m-bottom_small "><tbody><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap"><kbd>TODAY()</kbd></td><td class="slds-cell-wrap">Adds today's date to the file. The uploading date is applied to the file.</td></tr><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap"><kbd>DATEADD(interval,number,date)</kbd></td><td class="slds-cell-wrap">Adds or subtracts time from a given date according to the entity you entered as the interval. For example, <kbd>DATEADD('d',-1,TODAY())</kbd> retrieve yesterday's date and <kbd>DATEADD('m',-1,TODAY())</kbd> retrieves last months date.</td></tr><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap"><kbd>DATE(year,month,day)</kbd></td><td class="slds-cell-wrap">Enter a date of your choice, for example DATE(2022,06,01).</td></tr></tbody></table>

    Note When mapping files with the same date you may lose data as time goes by. Data entered for a certain date replaces existing data for the selected date. To prevent losing your data, enter a new date for each file uploaded without reprocessing the data.
