Recipient Price Calculation

Meet scale requirements and unblock your core multisite quoting journeys by calculating recipient-level prices in batches. The recipient-level pricing capability invokes the Configure API in batches instead of the Place Sales Transaction (PST) API directly. This batch processing helps you avoid platform guardrails and transaction limits.

The action creates a separate quote line recipient price record for each site in the group and calculates pricing based on the selected attributes and estimated consumption. The quantity and total price fields on the quote line item are updated with the aggregated values from all recipient-level calculations, while the unit price field is updated with the average of the prices calculated for each recipient.

This approach differs from the Split API approach, where recipient-level pricing was stored directly on the quote line item.

Here are some of the considerations for calculation of the recipient price.

  • Because recipient-level information isn't propagated from quote to order records, you can't use this feature for scenarios that require order creation. It's intended for commodity products where the business flow completes at the energy service agreement stage.
  • If the PST API is invoked after recipient prices are calculated, the computed prices are reset. This reset occurs because the PST API evaluates all line items and recalculates pricing during its execution, overwriting the batched values. Sales reps must re-run the Calculate Recipient Prices action whenever this occurs.
