# Pause Fulfillment Step

Add a pause step to hold a fulfillment plan until your conditions are met. When orchestration reaches the pause step, the step enters the In Progress state and fulfillment stops. Dynamic Revenue Orchestrator (DRO) reevaluates the Resume On rule only when an update changes an order line item or fulfillment order line item attribute that the rule uses. Once the Resume On rule conditions are met, the pause step moves to the Completed state and fulfillment continues.

## Reevaluate Pause Conditions with an Apex Trigger

If your fulfillment step source is the order header or another entity that isn't a sales transaction, DRO doesn't monitor record changes. To reevaluate conditions and resume the step, publish a **FulfillmentSourceChangeEvent** event. Set RecordIdentifier set to the relevant record identifier.

To reevaluate conditions when an entity that DRO doesn't monitor changes, create an Apex trigger on that entity. In an after update trigger, complete these steps.

Example

1. Identify the record associated with the fulfillment step. Depending on your use case, use the updated record’s ID or query for the ID of an associated record.
2. Publish a **FulfillmentSourceChangeEvent** event with the record ID:

    ```
    EventBus.publish(new FulfillmentSourceChangeEvent(RecordIdentifier =
    recId));
    ```

Example

Sample Apex Trigger

```
trigger SampleTrigger on CustomEntity__c (after update) {
List<CustomEntity__c> updatedEntityList = (List<CustomEntity__c>)
Trigger.new;
List<FulfillmentSourceChangeEvent> eventList = new
List<FulfillmentSourceChangeEvent>();
if (updatedEntityList != null && !updatedEntityList.isEmpty()) {
for (CustomEntity__c oneRecord : updatedEntityList) {
eventList.add(new FulfillmentSourceChangeEvent(RecordIdentifier
= oneRecord.Id));
}
EventBus.publish(eventList);
}
}
```

Example

Suppose that you want fulfillment to pause until a field service agent marks a work order as complete. Configure the Resume On rule to continue fulfillment after the worker changes a specified attribute on a fulfillment order line item. When the agent makes the change, DRO marks the pause step Completed and the fulfillment continues.

After you create the pause step, open the actions menu on the step and complete these instructions:

1. Select **Configure Resume on Rule**.
2. Select **Create Rule**.
3. Set the rule conditions on the Create Rule page.
4. For Based On, select Sales Transaction Items or Fulfillment Line Items.
5. Select your Condition Requirements (for example, All Conditions Are Met (AND)).
6. Define the rule condition by selecting a Resource, Operator, and Value.
7. Save your changes.
