# On-Demand Processing Execution Limits

Salesforce Apex guardrails govern on-demand processing of Data Processing Engine (DPE) definitions and are designed for low to moderate data volumes. Review the processing limits and record caps to determine when to use on-demand mode instead of scheduled batch processing.

## Execution Limits

On-demand definition run limits depend on whether the run is synchronous (immediate) or asynchronous (batch). The table lists the limits for each mode.

| Total number of input records after filtering | 50,000 | 50,000 |
| Total number of records processed during writeback | 10,000 | 10,000 |
| Maximum processing time in milliseconds | 10,000 ms | 60,000 ms |
| Total number of parallel DPE executions | 5 | 1 |
| Total number of nodes in an on-demand definition | 25 | 25 |
| Maximum size for an uploaded CSV file | 6 MB | 12 MB |
| Maximum context JSON output limit | 14 MB | 14 MB |
| Total number of records uploaded during a single CSV import | — | 10,000 |
| Total number of records uploaded across all CSV imports | — | 50,000 |
