Simplify multilingual form management by storing assessment questions and responses in multiple languages. The Entity Data Translation (EDT) framework handles question versions, while custom labels manage static UI elements, so forms automatically display in the user's locale.

At run time, the UI displays the questionnaire in the user's language. After users submit responses, the question type determines how the data is stored and displayed.
- Free-text responses (such as Text, Text Area, and Number types) are stored exactly as entered in the submission language. If another user views the submitted responses, they aren't translated into the viewer's language.
- Picklist, Multiselect, Radio, and Select responses are stored as predefined values. If an admin provides translations for these values, the translated options appear to the user during the assessment. After submission, the stored values reflect the selection at the time of submission.
To view submitted assessment questions and responses in a translated language, use the
Assessment Responses Summary API. The Summary API translates question labels and predefined
option values based on the AssessmentLanguage field on the Assessment
record, which captures the language used for submission.
- The Summary API translates question labels based on the assessment language.
- The API translates Picklist, Multiselect, Radio, and Select option values if translations are available in Salesforce.
- Free-text response values remain as entered because the API doesn't translate them.
If you don't use the Summary API, submitted responses aren't translated and appear in the submission language.
