# Create and Configure Subsequent Versions of the Grouped Decision Matrix

After creating a grouped decision matrix and configuring the matrix's first version, you can create subsequent versions with different key or subgroup key values and varying row data. You can't create column headers for subsequent versions of a grouped decision matrix because column headers are inherited from the first version.

1. Click ![App explorer icon.](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-ind-business_rules_engine-264-0-0-production-enus/b2d6dd5c-c231-428b-abbf-3dd2cd51a11f/business_rules_engine/images/app_explorer.png), and then find and select **Business Rules Engine**.
2. Click the app navigation menu, and then select **Decision Matrices**.
3. Click the link of the grouped decision matrix for which you want to create additional versions.
4. On the record page of the matrix, on the Related tab, click **New**.
5. Enter a name for the version.

For example, if the matrix is named Shipping Fees and the group key value is State, then you can name the version for New York as Shipping Fees NY.
6. Enter a version number.

To create the version number, Salesforce recommends adding one to the current version number. For example, if the current version number is 1, then the new number recommended is 2.
7. Add a start date time and, if necessary, an end date time for the version.

The default start date time is today.
8. Enter a rank number.
9. Enter a group key value.

If you specified a sub group key while creating the grouped decision matrix, enter a sub group key value. For example, if your group key is State and you're creating this version for including data on Shipping Fees for NY, your group key value can be New York.

    ![Warning](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-ind-business_rules_engine-264-0-0-production-enus/b2d6dd5c-c231-428b-abbf-3dd2cd51a11f/images/icon_warning.png)

Warning If you add columns or rows before specifying the key values, you can't save the data.
10. Save your changes.
11. Click the link for the version that you created.
12. Add row data:

    - To enter row data from a CSV file, click **Upload CSV File**.

        ![Important](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-ind-business_rules_engine-264-0-0-production-enus/b2d6dd5c-c231-428b-abbf-3dd2cd51a11f/images/icon_important.png)

Important Ensure that the column names in the CSV file and the grouped decision matrix are a perfect match. See [Create a Standard Decision Matrix by Using a CSV File](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.create_a_matrix_by_uploading_a_csv_file.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Use a CSV file to create decision matrices, especially if you're dealing with sizable data, and save the time and effort of manually creating column headers and adding row data.").

If after uploading the CSV file you don't see the rows, then refresh the browser.
    - To enter row data manually:
        1. On the Matrix tab, click **Add Row**.
        2. Click a table cell, click ![Pencil icon.](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-ind-business_rules_engine-264-0-0-production-enus/b2d6dd5c-c231-428b-abbf-3dd2cd51a11f/business_rules_engine/images/edit_matrix_row.png) in the cell, and then enter the value.
13. Save your changes.
14. Activate your decision matrix version:

Expression sets and other processes can call only active matrix versions.

    1. From the matrix version header, click Show Actions (![Show Actions](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-ind-business_rules_engine-264-0-0-production-enus/b2d6dd5c-c231-428b-abbf-3dd2cd51a11f/business_rules_engine/images/show_actions.png)), and then select **Edit** | **Enabled**.
    2. Save your changes.
