For provider scheduling, create service resource records to represent providers. For asset scheduling, create service resources to represent assets. You can then associate these resources with territories and visit types.

Although providers are already represented as contacts or person accounts for Intelligent Appointment Management, you must also represent them as service resources for Salesforce Scheduler.

1. For asset scheduling, if you haven’t already done so, add the Asset field to the service resource page layout.
2. From the App Launcher, find and select **Salesforce Scheduler Setup**.

This app opens up multiple object tabs, including Service Territories, Service Resources, Work Types, and Operating Hours.
3. Go to the Service Resources tab.
4. Click **New**.
    1. For provider scheduling, select a provider user and enter a resource name—typically, the user's name. For Resource Type, select **Technician**.
    2. For asset scheduling, select an asset and enter a resource name. For Resource Type, select **Asset**.
    3. Select **Active** to be able to assign the resource to appointments.
5. Save your changes.
