# Create a Catalog in Unified Catalog

Create catalogs to organize product offerings by type, purpose, or time period. Add categories to arrange products in a hierarchy within each catalog.

### Required Editions

## Create a Catalog

1. In Unified Catalog, select **Catalogs**.
2. On the Catalogs list view, click **New Catalog**.
3. In **Information**, enter a name and description for the catalog.
4. Enter a code, and then select a catalog type.
5. Enter the start and end dates.
6. Save your changes.

## Create a Catalog Category

1. From the App Launcher, search for and select **Unified Catalog**, and then select **Categories**.
2. Click **New**.
3. Enter a name. If the category is part of a hierarchy, select a parent category.
4. Assign the category to an existing catalog.
5. Enter a description, sort order, and code.
6. Specify whether the category appears in the menu.
7. Save your changes.
