# VPLAbstractionLayerSetup (Managed Package)

This custom metadata type is used to provide information about the product model to the abstraction framework. This custom metadata type is part of the managed package and can't be modified.

There are a large number of records in the VPLAbstractionLayerSetup custom metadata type. However, not all of the records that are listed here are currently in use. Also, many of these records are part of the managed package and can't be edited directly. If you need to modify any of these records due to updates in the product model, you can clone a record and then modify it.

To understand how this custom metadata is used to represent the product model in the abstraction framework, see [Abstraction Framework](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.comms_t_abstraction_framework_80615.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "The abstraction framework is a blackbox service that provides an interface between the Multiplay Subscription Management product model and the core components (such as the OmniScripts and Integration Procedures) that interact with the product model.") and [Use Custom Metadata to Represent Your Product Model](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.comms_t_use_custom_metadata_to_represent_your_product_model_81082.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Using the abstraction framework requires you to accurately represent your product model by providing custom metadata in the format the framework expects. Here are a few examples of how a product and an attribute can be represented using custom metadata.").
