# Create a Decomposition Relationship

Create a single decomposition relationship between the source product class and the destination technical product.

Before You Begin

- [Create a Product Class](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.comms_t_create_a_product_class_229962.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Create a product class and use the class to define the decomposition. This saves you time over having to create the same decomposition relationships and their mappings for each individual product.")
- [Associate Child Products in a Bundle with a Product Class](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.comms_t_associate_child_products_in_a_bundle_with_a_product_class_229905.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "After you've built the product class, you can link it to each tiered product.")

When you associate this product class with the commercial products and create just one decomposition relationship, Order Management knows to use the decomposition relationship defined in the class so all the similar products decompose to the same technical product.

Note

The steps in this topic use the example of the **Cloud Storage Class** product as set up in the topic [Create a Product Class](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.comms_t_create_a_product_class_229962.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Create a product class and use the class to define the decomposition. This saves you time over having to create the same decomposition relationships and their mappings for each individual product."). However, you can choose another product to set up the decomposition relationship.

To create a decomposition relationship, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to the Products > All Products view and select Cloud Storage Class.
2. Click the Related tab.
3. In the Decomposition Relationships (Source Product) related list, click New.
4. Enter the New Decomposition Relationship information. For example:
    - Decomposition Relationship Name: CloudStorageClass > TechnicalCloudStorage
    - Destination (Product): Technical Cloud Storage
5. Click Save.
6. Click the decomposition relationship just created.
7. Expand **Mapping Rules** and click Add New Rule.
8. Enter the required information in the **Add New Rule** dialog. For example:

    <table class="slds-table slds-table_bordered slds-max-medium-table_stacked slds-m-bottom_small ">
            <colgroup>
              <col>
              <col>
            </colgroup>
            <thead class="slds-text-title_caps ">
              <tr class="">
                <th scope="col" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" id="d29660e119">
                  <p style="margin-bottom:0;">Field</p>
                </th>
                <th scope="col" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" id="d29660e124">
                  <p style="margin-bottom:0;">Value</p>
                </th>
              </tr>
            </thead>
            <tbody>
              <tr class="">
                <td data-label="Field" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" headers="d29660e119 ">
                  <p style="margin-bottom:0;">Source Type</p>
                </td>
                <td data-label="Value" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" headers="d29660e124 ">
                  <p style="margin-bottom:0;">Attribute</p>
                </td>
              </tr>
              <tr class="">
                <td data-label="Field" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" headers="d29660e119 ">
                  <p style="margin-bottom:0;">Attribute/Field</p>
                </td>
                <td data-label="Value" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" headers="d29660e124 ">
                  <p style="margin-bottom:0;">Storage Limit</p>
                </td>
              </tr>
              <tr class="">
                <td data-label="Field" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" headers="d29660e119 ">
                  <p style="margin-bottom:0;">Mapping Type</p>
                </td>
                <td data-label="Value" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" headers="d29660e124 ">
                  <p style="margin-bottom:0;">ad-verbatim</p>
                </td>
              </tr>
              <tr class="">
                <td data-label="Field" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" headers="d29660e119 ">
                  <p style="margin-bottom:0;">Destination Attribute</p>
                </td>
                <td data-label="Value" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" headers="d29660e124 ">
                  <p style="margin-bottom:0;">Storage Limit</p>
                </td>
              </tr>
            </tbody>
          </table>

This decomposition relationship maps the source Storage Limit attribute of Cloud Storage Class to the destination Storage Class attribute of Technical Cloud Storage. The ad-verbatim mapping rule does not alter the data so the mapping value passes through unchanged.
