Maintain Asset Price during MACD Operations

Keep the price of existing assets fixed when they're converted to order line items. Prevent automatic or external repricing during Modify, Add, Change, and Delete (MACD) operations on the order. Make asset pricing more reliable and consistent by improving the accuracy of total calculations and ensuring compatibility with external pricing engines such as Attribute-Based Pricing (ABP).

Available in: Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer Editions

If an order line item originates from an existing asset, indicated by the "Existing" value in the Action__c field, its price remains constant throughout any subsequent changes to the order. This action retains the original asset price during the MACD process.

This feature applies only to the order line items where the Action__c field is set to Existing. If you change the Action__c to Change, the pricing is no longer be maintained.

The one-time price, represented by OT_STD_PRC, isn’t maintained after a MACD operation and is automatically set to 0.

To maintain asset prices with ABP, make sure that your custom PricingPlanHelper class is updated to the latest standard version.

Note
Note The EnableMaintainAssetPrice setting in the CPQ Configuration Setup is enabled by default starting with the Summer ’25 release. This feature is supported exclusively in the Classic APIs.

You can disable this feature by setting the value for MaintainAssetPrices as false. However, you can’t disable this feature after Spring ’26 release.

  1. From the App Launcher, find and select Pricing Designer.
  2. From the Pricing Designer app, click the The down angle icon for the app navigation menu menu, and select Pricing Plans.
  3. In the Pricing Plans list view, select All.
  4. Open Default Pricing Plan.
  5. From the Pricing, click Initialize Pricing Context, and then click Add Tab.

    {
    "MaintainAssetPrices": "true",
    "MaintainAssetPricesVariables": "REC_MNTH_STD_PRC,USAGE_STD_PRC"
    }

    • MaintainAssetPricesVariables: This refers to a comma-separated list of pricing variables whose values you want to retain from the asset during the MACD process.
    • Default Variable: If MaintainAssetPrices is set to true but MaintainAssetPricesVariables isn't specified, the system defaults to this variable: REC_MNTH_STD_PRC
