Model functional dependencies between products without locking them into a rigid
parent-child bundle. A linear relationship keeps two products linked across quotes, orders, and
assets while each product keeps its own price, term, and lifecycle. A Relies On rule defines
that a source product relies on a related product. For example, a VoIP service relies on
internet access.

How Relies On Rules Differ from Bundles
A bundle models parent-child containment, where the parent owns the child and lifecycle
actions cascade to the components. A Relies On rule models a dependency between two products
of equal standing. Reps can order, change, and disconnect each product independently, and
the dependency applies to required links and cancellation.
Relies On Rule Concepts
- Source product: The product that relies on another product (the dependent product).
- Related product: The product that another product relies on.
- Forward cardinality: The number of related products that a source product requires. The
minimum determines whether the relationship is optional (minimum 0) or mandatory (minimum
1 or higher). The maximum sets the count of related products that can be linked. The
highest value allowed is 10.
