# Industries CPQ for Energy & Utilities Cloud

Industries CPQ provides many benefits for energy and utility companies, mostly regarding pricing. Whether you are a retail energy company or a regulated utility, and whether your customer is a homeowner or a business with many office locations, CPQ lets you give the customer a calculated estimate up front, before they sign up. In a regulated market, this depends partly on their geographic locations.

Without Industries CPQ, either quoting and pricing capabilities are more limited, or integration with a third-party pricing application is required.

Industries CPQ benefits include:

- Inclusion of commodity unit rates in Orders — see [Child Line Items in the Cart](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.comms_child_line_items_in_the_cart.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "You can expand the Industries CPQ Cart's items to see its child items.").
- Inclusion of commodity unit rates in Assets — see [Handle Cost Components in Assets](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.comms_handle_cost_components_in_assets.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "When you retrieve Assets to present to an Energy customer, typically for tariff details, it's a best practice to ensure that parent Assets and cost components nest properly.").
- Mapping of Service Points in Asset-based ordering — see [Mapping Objects for Asset-Based Ordering](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.comms_mapping_objects_for_asset_based_ordering.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Using Object Mapper, you can move items, such as line item attachments and custom child objects throughout the asset-based ordering cycle.").
- Calculation of commodity unit rate prices in product bundles — see [Pricing Strategies for Product Bundles](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.comms_pricing_strategies_for_product_bundles.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "A product bundle has one or more child products. To price bundles, you can set a price for the parent product or roll up the prices of the child products. You can also apply overrides and adjustments to child products when they are part of a bundle.").
- Usage pricing — see [Usage-Based Pricing for Industries CPQ](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.comms_enable_usage_pricing_for_industries_cpq.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Before you start using the Multi-Site Quote and Order Capture feature, you must enable usage pricing.").
- Attribute-based pricing — see [Attribute-Based Pricing](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.comms_attribute_based_pricing.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Product attributes describe product characteristics. You can use product attributes for many purposes such as filtering, order decomposition, and fulfillment, and also to determine the correct price for a given product configuration.").
- Rules that allow or disallow pricing adjustments — see [Qualification Rules for Pricing Adjustments (Contextual Adjustments)](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.comms_qualification_rules_for_pricing_adjustments__contextual_adjustments_.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "To control the conditions in which a user can apply a manual pricing adjustment, you can use qualification context rules, starting in Summer '18. This feature is also known as contextual adjustments. You can also evaluate other data, such as the originating channel field on the order. Starting in the Fall '18 release, you can define maximum adjustment amounts or percentages, and also create pricing adjustment rules for specific products. Or you can disable pricing adjustments altogether.").
- Orders and pricing for multisite customers — see [Multi-Site Quote and Order Capture for Industries CPQ](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.comms_multi_site_quote_and_order_capture.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Communications & Media Energy & Utilities businesses can have thousands of locations, service accounts, or subscribers for which to create quotes or orders. Salesforce provides a solution to group individual locations, service accounts, or subscribers and to apply the same product configuration to each group member.").
