# GUIDs Performance

Salesforce made GUID performance enhancements to meet demand from customers for higher throughput for some key transaction types. The GUID performance feature is an optional performance enhancement feature.

- **[GUIDs Performance in Industries CPQ](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.comms_guids_performance_in_vlocity_cpq.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
The GUID performance feature is an optional performance enhancement. When enabled, the feature eliminates an expensive write operation from many common customer transactions, such as add-to-cart.
- **[GUIDs Performance - Inspect and Modify Custom Code](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.comms_guids_performance___inspect_and_modify_custom_code.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
You can inspect and adapt custom Apex code to handle the new values present in the ParentItemId\_\_c and RootItemId\_\_c fields of the Asset, OrderItem, OpportunityLineItem, and QuoteLineItem SObjects.
- **[GUIDs Performance with Data Migration](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.comms_guids_performance_with_data_migration.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
You can use the GUIDs Performance feature for converting affected records in the interest of obtaining maximum performance benefit. This allows you to maximize the performance of certain operations when they interact with the affected records.
