# Streamlining Attribute Updates in the Working Cart with Real-Time and On-Demand Modes (Managed Package)

When the Standard Cart API is enabled, streamline attribute updates in the working cart by using two validation modes: Real-Time and On-Demand. These modes, which leverage the CPQ Multi-Edit API for efficient processing, help you check product configurations for errors and resolve them before proceeding.

These modes control how and when product attribute changes are validated.

## Prerequisite

Ensure that the Standard Cart API is enabled. This is typically configured in the `b2bSampleAppCard` Vlocity Card by setting the `isStandardCartEnabled` session variable to `true`.

## Validation Modes

- Real-Time Pricing and Validation: Validate attributes immediately, with options to include or defer pricing calculations.
    
    - Real-Time Validation with Instant Pricing: Validate attributes and see updated price in real-time.
    - Real-Time Validation with Deferred Pricing: Validate attributes but delay pricing calculations until you click **Run Pricing**.
- On-Demand Validation (Default): Modify multiple attributes across different products and then, when you are ready, manually validate and price all the changes together.

## API Calls

Attribute updates in both Real-Time and On-Demand modes are processed using the Multi-Edit API.
