Design promotions for simple products, bundles, and product categories to acquire new customers or engage existing customers. Define the promotion type, start and end dates, eligibility criteria, and the channels where the promotion applies. For a term-based promotion, set the number of terms for the benefit period and a commitment period.

Revenue Cloud for Communications supports three types of promotions. The type determines how the discount reaches the quote or order.
- Automatic promotions apply on their own when a sales rep adds an eligible product. Reps can't remove them.
- Manual promotions appear in the eligible promotions side panel, where a sales rep applies them. A promotion with a single coupon is a manual promotion.
- Coupon-based promotions are manual promotions that apply only after a sales rep enters a valid coupon code. A promotion becomes coupon-based when it has more than one active coupon.
When you add coupons to a manual promotion, you can also set redemption limits across all buyers and start and end dates on each coupon. You configure a promotion as manual. Depending on the number of active coupons attached, a sales rep either applies it directly or unlocks it with a coupon code.
- One active coupon: The promotion appears directly in the eligible promotions side panel. The rep applies it without entering a code.
- More than one active coupon: The promotion doesn't appear until the rep enters a valid coupon code, and then applies it.
To design a simple promotion, see Design Promotions in Revenue Cloud.
To design a term-based promotion:
- Select the Get Discount + Rewards on X (Based on Selling Model) template.
- Enter the Priority and Rule Name, and then select a product or category.
- Turn on Set Term-Based Conditions and Reward Duration.
A term-based promotion applies the discount for a specified number of terms and requires commitment for a defined period. When Set Term-Based Conditions and Reward Duration is off, the promotion is a simple promotion, and the number-of-terms and commitment-period fields don’t appear.
