# Create Attribute Bindings for Usage Pricing

In a unit rate cost component, the Usage Price Total field value is the Usage Price field value multiplied by the Usage Quantity field value. Making an attribute editable in Industries Cart is much easier than making a field editable. Therefore, to set the Usage Quantity value from within Industries Cart, creating an attribute binding is strongly recommended.

If you are using [dynamic usage pricing](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.comms_set_up_dynamic_usage_quantity.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "You can source the estimated usage quantity of a service at a service point, premises, subscriber, or service account from various custom fields. A calculation matrix identifies the custom field based on different criteria. You can configure the system to calculate usage pricing for a service based on the usage quantity recorded in the custom field identified in the calculation matrix.  "), you don't need to create these attribute bindings, because a calculation matrix determines how the Usage Quantity field is set.

1. Switch to Salesforce Classic.
2. Create an attribute. For example:

    ![Usage Attribute](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-ind-comms_media_energy_managed-264-0-0-production-enus/ff4079f6-a384-475c-b863-578bbbb0ef9b/resources-product/images/usageattr.png)
3. Add the attribute to an object type for a unit rate cost component. For example:

    ![Layout Management](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-ind-comms_media_energy_managed-264-0-0-production-enus/ff4079f6-a384-475c-b863-578bbbb0ef9b/resources-product/images/usageattrobjtype.png)
4. On the Vlocity Object or Object Type tab, set the **Object API Name** to OrderItem, which is the object to which the attribute binds in Industries Cart.

    ![Object Type Detail](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-ind-comms_media_energy_managed-264-0-0-production-enus/ff4079f6-a384-475c-b863-578bbbb0ef9b/resources-product/images/usageqty.png)
5. Bind the attribute to the UsageQuantity\_\_c field. For example:

    ![UsageQty](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-ind-comms_media_energy_managed-264-0-0-production-enus/ff4079f6-a384-475c-b863-578bbbb0ef9b/resources-product/images/attrbind.png)
6. You can then edit the attribute value in Industries Cart when you select the **Configure** option for a line item. For example:

![Configuring a unit rate in a commodity product.](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-ind-comms_media_energy_managed-264-0-0-production-enus/ff4079f6-a384-475c-b863-578bbbb0ef9b/resources-product/images/configureproductenergy.png)
