Provide these details:
Field Description Segment Type Type of segment. Options are:
- Constant
- Device (LU)
- Init Counter
- Counter
Sort Numeric sorting definition to sort the list of segments within the final system number. Segment Length Fixed width of the segment. Values are padded with leading zeros or truncated to fit. Pre Delimiter Fixed text placed before the segment value, such as OE. Post Delimiter Fixed text placed after the segment value, such as -. Numerical System Counting system for Counter segments. Options are:
- Decimal
- Hexadecimal
- Alphanumeric
Initial Value Starting value for a Counter segment or static text for a Constant segment. Max Value Highest value allowed for a Counter segment before triggering a fallback definition. -

Each segment type fills the number from a different source.
Segment type Fills with Where the value comes from Constant A fixed value you enter The segment's own initial value, configured on the segment Device (LU) The first 3 characters of the device identifier The device, assigned when you set up the device Init counter The 4th character of the device identifier The device, assigned when you set up the device Counter The running sequence number Maintained per device. Starts from a configured starting value The app builds each segment as the pre-delimiter, then the value, then the post-delimiter, and then fits the result to the segment length by padding with leading zeros or trimming. That's why a prefix such as OE is the first segment's pre-delimiter rather than a separate segment.
The app doesn't insert the device identifier as a whole. When the identifier is longer than 3 characters, the Device (LU) segment contributes its first 3 characters, and the Init counter segment contributes the 4th. For a short identifier of 3 characters or fewer, the Device (LU) segment uses the whole value.
The counter counts in one of three systems, which changes how many records a segment of a given length holds. Decimal uses digits 0–9. Hexadecimal uses 0–9 and A–F. Alphanumeric uses 0–9 and A–Z, which fits the most numbers per character.
Important: To set a system number definition as Active, it must contain exactly one Device (LU) segment, one Counter segment, and one Init counter segment. Each of these types can appear only once. You can add other segments, such as a Constant, around them. Together, these three types guarantee uniqueness. The device identifier distinguishes devices, and the counter distinguishes records on the same device.
