Create an Asset

Create an asset record to define all the details about an asset, such as manufacturer and year of manufacturing. To identify an asset easily, add a serial number or tag. Associate an asset with an account and its related point of sale. Or, associate an asset to a product to enable a sales rep to place an order for the asset.

Required Editions

Available in: Lightning Experience in Professional, Enterprise, and Unlimited Editions that have Consumer Goods Cloud enabled.
User Permissions Needed
To create an asset:

CGCloud Supervisor

OR

CGCloud Retail Supervisor User AND CGCloud Retail User

OR

CGCloud Sales User

OR

CGCloud Retail Sales User AND CGCloud Retail User
  1. From the App Launcher, find and select Assets, and then click New.
  2. Provide these details.
    Field Description
    Identification
    Description Description of the asset.
    Asset Name Name of the asset.
    Tag Number Unique tag number that's assigned to the asset.
    Asset Type Type of the asset. You can’t edit this field after the asset is created.
    Account Customer to whom the asset is assigned. This field is available after you select an asset type.
    Sales Org Sales org to which the asset belongs.
    Valid From/Valid Thru Validity period of the asset.
    Status

    Status of the asset. The options are:

    • Active
    • Inactive
    • Damaged
    Asset Template Asset template on which the asset is based. This field is automatically populated based on the selected asset type.
    POS Point of sale that's assigned to the asset. You can select only the POS that’s assigned to the selected customer.
    Description
    Description Language 1/2/3/4 Description of the asset template in the languages that are configured for the sales org.
    Settings
    Ownership Type

    Ownership type of the asset. The options are:

    • Owned
    • Leased
    Manufacturer Serial Number Serial number that's assigned to the asset by its manufacturer.
    Production Year Year in which the asset was manufactured.
    ERP Asset Number ERP number of the asset.
    Competitor Asset

    Indicates whether the asset is a competitor asset. The options are:

    • Yes
    • No
    Brand Brand to which the asset belongs.
    Service Phone Number Contact number of the brand.
    Notes
    Asset Note Any additional information about the asset.
  3. Save your changes.
    Alternatively, you can create an asset during a visit. To add an asset to a visit, from the Visit Record page, click Register Asset.
