# Add a Unit of Measure for a Product

You can define multiple units of measure (UoMs) for each product. Use UoMs to efficiently manage orders for a product and its distribution.

### Required Editions

For order taking, add a UoM of the product as a consumer unit by selecting the unit type as Consumer Unit. Additionally, mark another UoM as an order unit and price unit by selecting the Is Order Unit and Is Price Unit checkboxes.

Note Only the products with default UoM—Is Order Unit and Order Ability set to True—are prepopulated in the disposal list in the order items screen. When more than one UoM is marked as default, the UoM is selected based on the sort order assigned.

Add logistical units for a product to:

- Define a hierarchy of logistical units.
- Specify packaging and containment of logistical units in parent units.
- Define attributes for independent logistical units, for example, specify whether a logistical unit is a default order unit of a product.
- Specify the weight and volume of a product as per predefined units.

1. From the App Launcher, find and select **Products**.
2. Select a product.
3. On the Units of Measure related tab, click **New**.
4. Provide these details:
