Considerations
Considerations to keep in mind while using external devices:
- At a time, you can use only a single external device such as a keyboard or scanner.
- Your Bluetooth device selection is stored in the device. After reinstallation of the offline app, the Bluetooth device selection reverts to the default value.
- If an input field is active in the Consumer Goods Cloud offline mobile app and a Bluetooth keyboard and barcode scanner are connected, the app will populate the input field with the scanned code when a sales rep scans a barcode.
- To avoid seamless and uninterrupted behavior, set the same language for your mobile device, offline app, and external Bluetooth keyboard language.
- For support and configuration-related queries about your keyboard or scanner, contact the vendor of the Bluetooth device.
- For limitations on Bluetooth keyboard capabilities, see General Limits.
- When using an iOS device, if you want to switch from using a Bluetooth keyboard to the soft or in-app virtual keyboard, disconnect the Bluetooth keyboard from the Bluetooth settings on your mobile device. For Android devices, you can use both the soft keyboard and Bluetooth keyboard simultaneously. You can switch from a soft keyboard to a Bluetooth keyboard or vice versa.
- When using a Bluetooth keyboard on Android devices, the soft keyboard may collapse while entering text into input fields.
Select a Bluetooth Scanner
By default, the Bluetooth device is set as Scanner in My settings. You can switch the selection from the Bluetooth keyboard to the Bluetooth scanner.
- On the Consumer Goods Cloud offline mobile app, tap My Settings.
- In the External Device Settings section, select Bluetooth Device as Scanner. Alternatively, you can set the Bluetooth Device field as Scanner in the User Settings object on the Consumer Goods Cloud desktop app and sync the offline mobile app.
Select a Bluetooth Keyboard
On the Consumer Goods Cloud offline mobile app, you can use a Bluetooth keyboard to enter single or multiline text (such as notes) during orders and other retail execution activities.
- On the Consumer Goods Cloud offline mobile app, tap My Settings.
- In the External Device Settings section, select Bluetooth Device as Keyboard. Alternatively, you can set the Bluetooth Device field as Keyboard in the User Settings object on the Consumer Goods Cloud desktop app and sync the offline mobile app.
