# Team Supervisors’ Roles & Responsibilities

Monitor and track the activities of your sales reps to achieve your team’s sales objectives. Provide guidance to improve a rep’s performance and ensure greater customer satisfaction. Plan the store visits of your sales reps, create store-related job lists, and assign activities to your sales reps.

## Plan and Manage Visits

Plan your own visits and create on-demand visits for your sales reps. To help improve a rep’s performance, supervisors can accompany them on visits. By default, supervisors can create an on-demand visit for any sales rep. For supervisors to be able to create visits for their subordinates, administrators must enable role hierarchy for the supervisors. These resources can help you get started.

- [Manually Create Visits](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.retail_task_admin_create_visit.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "A visit can be customer-related or non-customer related. Supervisors can create calls for any sales reps in the team, but sales reps can create visits only for themselves.")
- [Create Visits Automatically](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.cg_admin_create_calls_automatically.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "A planning algorithm creates visits based on visit settings. You can create and assign visits to any of your sales reps automatically if you're a manager.")
- [Create Multiple Visits](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.cg_admin_create_multiple_calls.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "You can create multiple visits for several customers and assign the visit to any sales rep from the team.")

## Track Time Utilization of the Team

Use daily reports and time cards to review how sales reps use their productive and downtime hours, and track productivity. Assign, view, and approve or reject the reports from your sales reps. If reports have an incorrect approver, supervisors can assign the correct approver. See these resources.

- [Approve or Reject a Daily Report](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.cg_task_admin_approve_reject_daily_report.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Supervisors can review their reps’ daily reports whose status is Released, and can either approve or reject the reports.")
- [Reassign a Daily Report](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.cg_task_admin_reassign_daily_report.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "If a report is incorrectly assigned to a supervisor, the supervisor can reassign daily reports to a different approver.")

## Manage Substitutions

Ensure continuous service even when a sales rep isn’t available. Create a substitute, and assign temporary access to the unavailable rep’s data. See [Assign a Substitute to a Customer](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.cg_task_admin_create_substitutions.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "When a sales rep is unavailable, create a substitution record to capture absence details, such as the name of the rep and the period of absence. You can assign the substitutes for the original rep to the customers. You can assign one substitute to one customer, multiple substitutes to one customer, or one substitute to multiple customers.").

## Collaborate with Team by Using Notifications, Tasks, and Customer Tasks

Send one-way communications to your sales reps by creating notifications. For example, you can notify your sales rep about the topics to discuss during the next team meeting. You can create tasks for your sales reps to assign non-customer related actions. For example, you can create a task for your sales rep to release the daily report for the last week. You can monitor tasks and release them as they’re closed. Sales reps can either review the customer tasks that their supervisor created or create customer tasks during visits. See these resources.

- [Create Customer Tasks](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.cg_task_admin_create_customer_task.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Use the Consumer Good Cloud offline mobile app to create customer tasks during visits. Supervisors can also create tasks for their sales reps to be performed during visits.")
- [Create User Tasks](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.cg_task_admin_create_user_task.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "For personal tasks and to-do lists that must be completed before a due date, create user task records. Supervisors can create user tasks, and then assign those tasks to their reps. Reps can create user tasks for themselves. A supervisor can monitor a rep’s task and track its status.")
- [Create User Notifications](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.cg_task_admin_create_user_task_notification.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Create notifications to communicate important information to your reps. For example, topics to discuss during the next team meeting.")
