Enhanced Geofencing, Time Tracking, and Start Visit for Consumer Goods Cloud Visits

With explicit start visits, make users begin a visit ‌before its execution, preventing changes to visit until the visit starts. Track the user’s time and location at key milestones during a visit, such as the start, end, and cancellation. Use geofencing to define the radius within which they can start or finish a visit, and to record if visits start or finish outside the geofenced area. Limit the number of in progress visits to one and prevent users from starting another visit until the current one is completed or canceled. With enhanced geofencing and time tracking, oversee ‌visits, control field operations, and make visit execution accurate and reliable.

Considerations for Geofencing and Time Tracking for Visits

  • In Retail Execution visits, for geofencing validation to work, you must turn on both geofencing validation and visit start related settings in Visit Template.
  • Enhanced geofencing and time tracking apply only to the visits on the Consumer Goods offline mobile app and don’t apply to visits that are carried out through the Consumer Goods cloud desktop app.
  • Enhanced geofencing and time tracking don't work on visits that use automatic call planning to set the status of the visit. The only exception is when the automatic planning is used to set the visit status as 'Planned'.
  • Enhanced geofencing and time tracking apply only to customer-related visits.
  • If you have upgraded the Consumer Goods Cloud managed package to Spring ’25, make the necessary changes to the page layouts to include the geolocation, time tracking, and visit start settings in the Visit Template, Visit, and Sales Org objects.
  • Time, Location Tracking, and Geofencing Configurations for Consumer Goods Cloud Visits
Configure the Visit Template and Sales Organization objects to enable geofencing and time tracking of visits. Use the Visit object fields to capture the user’s time and location, and to identify visits that start or complete outside the geofencing range.
  • Explicit Start Visit Configurations
To make sure users start a visit and that at any point in time, there’s only one visit in progress for the users on the Consumer Goods Cloud offline mobile app, use these configuration settings in the Visit Start related section in Visit Template.
