# Tour Management for Direct Store Delivery

Tours are executable trips for the day and user and include tour-specific characteristics and configurations. A tour involves a series of planned customer visits. Delivery tours are integrated from external systems, while van sales, pre-sales, and merchandising tours can be created at the backend or in the mobile system (based on routes).

A warehouse is the start point and end point of a tour. Drivers execute tours with vehicles and products from the warehouse. The warehouse admin defines the date of the tour, adds tour notes, and can adjust other tour data if applicable.

Consider these points when you create tours:

- You can create a tour from a route or without a route by using a tour template.
- For a tour, all the tour checks and tour object references values are preset from a tour template.
- The sales org of the tour is preset as the sales org of the tour template. Based on the tour template, the system copies the tour configuration values in a tour.
- In a tour, the planned start time is the start date and time for the first visit (determined by the visit or customer sequence). The planned start time for subsequent visits is calculated as the previous visit start time plus the visit duration.

With these points in mind, create and manage tours using the methods that follow.

- **[Create Tours from a Tour Template](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.cg_task_admin_create_tours_from_tourtemplate.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Use Tours to create executable trips that are assigned to a specific day and user with tour-specific characteristics and configurations. You can create a van sales tour independently of a route.
- **[Create Tour from Route](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.cg_task_admin_create_tours_from_route.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
You can create van-sales tours from the routes for the warehouse drivers. When you create a tour from a route, the system populates the tour data from the route. You can define the tour date, add tour notes, and adjust the tour data.
- **[Create Visits for Tours](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.cg_task_admin_visit_creation_from_tours.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
When you create tours (by using tour templates or routes), you can manually add visits to the tour that aren’t derived from the route. Assigned visits are shown in the related list of the tour. You can create visits for multiple accounts. When you create a tour from a route, the system creates a corresponding visit for each customer in the route and associates the visit with the tour (by using the route).
- **[Edit Visit Sequence for Tours](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.cg_task_admin_edit_visit_sequence_for_tours.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
Warehouse drivers execute visits in a tour based on the sequence set up for the visits during tour creation. You can edit the visit sequence based on the sequence number or the date and time of visits. You can also use the drag-and-drop feature to change the order of visits.
- **[Considerations and Validations for Tours on the Consumer Goods Cloud Desktop App](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.cg_task_admin_tour_validations.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
When you create or modify a tour, the system performs certain checks. Consider these checks when you manage tours.
