Before you set up expression sets, learn more about the Business Rules Engine [Expression Sets](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.expression_sets.htm&type=5&language=en_US).

Expression Set Elements:

- The Compliance Check element indicates whether the compliance control is compliant. Customize a compliance message to show to your users, such as loan officers and underwriters, when a record isn't compliant. Use merge fields to input dynamic information into the message. This element is required when an expression set usage type is compliant.
- The Compliance Control Log element adds business context to the compliance control log in the compliance audit trail. Use the compliance control log element to keep a log of the attributes in the context definition, such as the age of the person or their total net worth.

1. From the App Launcher, find and select **Business Rules Engine**.
2. From the navigation bar, select **Expression Sets**.
3. Click **New**.
4. Enter a name and an API name for the expression set.
5. Select **Compliance** as the usage type.

To associate an expression set with a compliance control, the expression set usage type must be Compliance.
6. Select the context definition that you created.

    4. To dynamically add details, such as Account ID and Account Name, in your compliance message to be shown to a client, click **Add Merge Key**.
11. If needed, select the **Compliance Control Log**.

    2. Select a resource that you created in the associated context definition.

12. Save and activate the expression set.

The IT Admin adds the rule processor to a compliance control and update the compliance control's configuration details.
