# Refresh a Decision Table

To meet evolving business requirements, you can add, update, or remove decision table rows. If you update the object or the custom metadata type that contains the row data, refresh the decision table to make sure that the outcomes are based on the latest data.

### Required Editions

<table class="slds-table slds-table_bordered slds-max-medium-table_stacked slds-m-bottom_small edition"><colgroup><col></colgroup><tbody><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;">Available in: Lightning Experience</td></tr><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;">Available in: <strong>Enterprise</strong>, <strong>Unlimited</strong>, and <strong>Developer</strong> Editions for clouds that have Business Rules Engine enabled</td></tr></tbody></table>

<table class="slds-table slds-table_bordered slds-max-medium-table_stacked slds-m-bottom_small permission">
        <colgroup>
          <col style="width:50%">
          <col style="width:50%">
        </colgroup>
        <thead class="slds-text-title_caps ">
          <tr class="">
            <th scope="colgroup" class="slds-cell-wrap" colspan="2" style="text-align:center;vertical-align:top;" id="d3475e69">User Permissions
              Needed</th>
          </tr>
        </thead>
        <tbody>
          <tr class="">
            <td data-label="User Permissions Needed" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" headers="d3475e69 ">To refresh any decision table from Setup:</td>

            <td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" headers="d3475e69 ">System Administrator</td>

          </tr>
        </tbody>
      </table>

By default, the first time you activate a decision table, it triggers a full refresh, updating all rows with the latest data from sObject records. Subsequent refreshes are handled automatically by Business Rules Engine, which determines whether an incremental or a full refresh is required. Multiple decision tables can be refreshed simultaneously.

An Incremental Refresh updates only the rows affected by changes to the source sObject data, typically completing faster than a full refresh. If the volume of changes is too large or the incremental refresh fails, the system automatically falls back to a full refresh. For more information, see the [Decision Table Refresh Action](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/atlas.en-us.industries_reference.meta/industries_reference/dt_actions_refresh_decision_table.htm).

Note You can refresh decision tables created by only you in your org.

Warning During an activation or refresh action, ongoing data modifications on the underlying sObject data may not be integrated. To ensure that the decision table incorporates the complete and latest configuration, trigger a Refresh action after all updates to the source sObject data are completed.

1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Decision Tables, and then select **Decision Tables**.
2. From the decision tables list, select an active decision table that you want to refresh.
3. Click **Refresh**.

    Business Rules Engine automatically performs a full or incremental refresh based on the extent of the changes since the last refresh.

When the refresh is completed, the Refresh Status is updated. An incremental refresh updates the Last Incremental Refresh Date, and a full refresh updates the Last Refreshed Date. The Last Sync Date shows the most recent refresh date, whether full or incremental. Use the Last Sync Date to confirm that your decision table is up to date.

- **[Automate Decision Table Refreshes with Flows](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.task_refresh_decision_table_flow.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5)**
    You can use a Flow action to refresh a decision table asynchronously based on a schedule or when required. You can also use a flow to update multiple decision tables.
