# Generate Invoice Previews and Preview PDF Documents

Generate invoice previews without generating an actual invoice and then generate PDF documents for the invoice previews. Share the PDF documents with your customers to reduce billing disputes.

## Prerequisites

Before you generate invoice previews, make sure that your Billing admin completes the prerequisite steps.

- [Set up document generation for Billing](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.billing_setup_document_generation.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Before Billing can create PDF documents for invoices, invoice previews, account statements, and other custom documents, enable server-side and batch document generation, then turn on Document Generation in Billing Settings. Batch document generation is required to generate invoice PDF documents from an invoice batch run.").
- To generate invoice previews for Quote records, create a procedure plan, and then use either the [Preview Invoices button](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.billing_preview_invoice.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Generate invoice previews without generating an actual invoice and then generate PDF documents for the invoice previews. Share the PDF documents with your customers to reduce billing disputes.") or the [Invoice Preview API](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/atlas.en-us.revenue_lifecycle_management_dev_guide.meta/revenue_lifecycle_management_dev_guide/connect_resources_preview_invoices.htm).

## Limits

Before you generate invoice previews, consider these limits.

- You can generate invoice previews for a maximum of 200 billing schedules of accounts, orders, or billing schedule groups.
- Before generating PDF documents for invoice previews, review the [default limits for document generation requests](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.doc_gen_document_generation_limits_docgen_two.htm&language=en_US) and the [process for increasing the maximum number of content versions that are published per day](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=000386874&type=1&language=en_US).
