# Create Code Sets and Code Set Relationships in Automotive Cloud

Use code sets and code set relationships to establish a set of service standards that can be accurately and consistently used in various operations and digital records. Define code sets to standardize labor activities, product defects, and expenses. Define code set relationships between product fault codes and product labor codes to identify the possible product defects and the type of effort required to resolve the defects.

Important Here we show you how you manually create code sets and code set relationships. It’s more likely that your admin imports code sets from external source systems via the Data Loader or other import mechanisms.

1. To create a code set, follow these steps:
    1. From the App Launcher, find and select **Code Set**.
    2. Click **New**.
    3. Enter a code name.
    4. To identify the context of the code, update the Source System and System Version fields.
    5. Enter the code.
    6. For code set type, select **Product Fault Code** or **Product Labor Code**.
    7. Enter effective start and end dates for the code set.
    8. If the code set is selected manually by a user instead of being selected by an automated process, select **Primary**.
    9. Select **Active**.
    10. Click **Save**.
2. To create a code set relationship, follow these steps:
    1. From the App Launcher, find and select **Codeset Relationships**.
    2. Click **New**.
    3. For Codeset, specify a code set.

For example, specify a product fault code.
    4. For Related Codeset, specify the code set that’s to be associated with the other code set.

For example, specify a product labor code.
    5. For Codeset Type, select the type of the code set.
    6. For Related Codeset Type, specify the type of the code set that’s to be associated with the other code set.
    7. Click **Save**.

Example

The warranty manager at Neo Motors, an original equipment manufacturer, defines two code set relationships.

- Codeset Relationship 1
    - Codeset: Overheating Engine
    - Codeset Type: Product Fault Code
    - Related Codeset: Coolant Refill
    - Related Codeset Type: Product Labor Code
- Codeset Relationship 2
    - Codeset: Damaged Headlights
    - Codeset Type: Product Fault Code
    - Related Codeset: Headlight Repair
    - Related Codeset Type: Product Labor Code
