# Assign a Recovery Agency to a Repossession Item

Line up the third-party agencies that will recover a vehicle, chosen by location, rating, and current workload.

### Required Editions

The repossession request must be approved. Partner accounts with Business Partner Type Recovery Agency must exist. See [Recovery Agency Assignment for Repossession Items](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.auto_repossession_agency_assignment.htm&type=5&language=en_US).

1. Open the Repossession Item record for the vehicle you want to recover.
2. On the **Repossession Item Vendors** related list, click **Assign Agency**.
3. Enter an agency name, a postal code, or both, and click **Search**.
4. Review the search results to compare agencies by name, location, rating, status, and current assignments.
5. Select the checkbox for one or more agencies to assign.
6. Click **Submit**.

Salesforce creates an active assignment for each agency you select, and the assigned agencies appear on the Repossession Item Vendors related list.
