Define the purposes for collecting information from applicants before you seek their consent during the application intake process for Automotive Lending. Data use purposes can optionally link to data use legal basis records, which identify specific legal regulations.

### Required Editions

1. From the App Launcher, find and select **Data Use Legal Basis**.
    1. On the Data Use Legal Basis list page, click **New**.
    2. Enter a descriptive name.
    3. Enter a source name that identifies a legal regulatory authority.
    4. Save your changes.
2. From the App Launcher, find and select **Data Use Purposes**.
    1. On the Data Use Purposes list page, click **New**.
    2. Enter a descriptive name.
    3. Select the Data Use Legal Basis record created in Step 1.
    4. Save your changes.
3. From the App Launcher find and select the data use purpose that you created in the previous step.
    1. Go to the Related tab.
    2. In the Authorization Form Data Use section, click **New**.
    3. Enter a name.
    4. Select the authorization form that you created in [Add Disclosures for Applicant Consent in Automotive Lending](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.auto_finance_lending_setup_authorization_form.htm&type=5&language=en_US).
    5. Save your changes.
    6. On the data use purpose record, go to the Details tab, and select **Is Active**.
    7. Save your changes.
