# Key Components of Actionable Vehicle Telematics

Review the key components and configurations that help you create actionable event orchestrations in Automotive Cloud. Set up a touchless process that automatically detects critical events based on information shared from a vehicle’s sensors, applies eligibility conditions on the event data, and creates or updates records in Salesforce.

    There are different methods to bring telematics events into Automotive Cloud and execute actions on the event. Use the Actionable Orchestration Source Event platform event to publish events or use the Orchestration Inbound Events business API to trigger events. The platform event and the business API can be easily integrated with any telematics provider system.

    When a vehicle telematics event is triggered in an external system, the details are sent to the orchestration framework via the Inbound Event API or the Actionable Orchestration Source Event platform event. Use a predefined context definition that represents the request payload structure of a typical event’s data, or create a context definition of your own. The context definition is used as the input for the execution procedure that executes the orchestration.

    The Filter and Match Actionable Event Orchestrations decision table matches an event that’s sent to Salesforce from an external system to the corresponding Actionable Event Orchestration record. When a vehicle telematics event is sent to Salesforce, the decision table finds the input values for Event Type, Event Subtype, and Event Category. Based on the type of event, the table gives the output values for the context definition, context mapping, and the execution procedure. For example, if an actionable event orchestration is defined for an engine malfunction event type, the decision table automatically matches each event of that type to the corresponding execution procedure.
