Before you begin, complete these prerequisites.

- Set up Unstructured Document Processing. Agentic Application Intake uses it to read the documents that applicants upload. That setup includes the Process Unstructured Documents for Customer Community and Data Cloud User permission sets. For the steps, see [Set Up Unstructured Document Processing](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.psc_recruitment_enable_unstructured_document_processing.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Enable Unstructured Document Processing, then configure the permissions that users need to upload documents and extract data.").
- Configure a document schema for licenses and permits. For the steps, see [Configure a Document Schema for Licenses and Permits](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.aps_agentic_application_intake_document_schema.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Define which fields Unstructured Document Processing extracts from documents that license and permit applicants upload.").
- Turn on Discovery Framework. The questions that applicants answer are assessment questions, and Discovery Framework stores each answer as an assessment response. For the steps, see [Dynamic Assessments Prerequisites](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.psc_dynamic_assessments_prerequisites.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "To set up Dynamic Assessments, start by completing the prerequisites.").
- Complete the license and permit prerequisites. For the steps, see [Licensing and Permitting Prerequisites](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=ind.psc_license_permit_prerequisites.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Before you set up licensing and permitting in Public Sector, complete the prerequisites.").

Assigning a permission set also assigns the associated permission set license and grants the access that each user needs.

1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Flows, select **Flows**, and then select **Capture Application Return Reason**.

This flow records why a reviewer returns an application to an applicant.
2. Click **Save As**, enter a flow label and a flow API name, and then save your changes.

Capture Application Return Reason is a template, so you can't activate it as it is. Save a copy, and then activate the copy.
3. Activate the flow.
4. In your approval process, clear the return reason when an applicant submits an application.

A resubmitted application then doesn't show the reason from an earlier review.
5. Assign the permission sets that portal applicants need.

    - Agentforce for Public Sector for Community

Applicants can start a license or permit application from the Applicant Portal and upload supporting documents that fill in fields. They can also pause and resume the application, and get help from an agent while they work.
