Important Connected apps creation is restricted as of Spring ‘26. You can continue to use existing connected apps during and after Spring ‘26. However, we recommend using [external client apps](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=xcloud.external_client_apps.htm&language=en_US) instead. If you must continue creating connected apps, contact Salesforce Support.

See [New connected apps can no longer be created in Spring ‘26](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=005228017&type=1&language=en_US) for more details.

Virtual Care uses Amazon EventBridge API Destinations to connect events from Chime SDK to Salesforce Platform Events. Within Amazon EventBridge, a connection to Salesforce using OAuth Username and Password is employed. The Consumer Key, Consumer Secret, Token URL, Username, and Password are required parameters to authorize posting events to Salesforce.

1. Enable the OAuth 2.0 username-password flow in your org. From Setup, find and select **OAuth and OpenID Connect Settings**. Then turn on **Allow OAuth Username-Password Flows**.
2. From Setup, enter External Client Apps in the Quick Find box, then select **Settings** in the External Client App section.
3. Click **New Connected App**.
4. Enter the connected app’s name, which appears in the App Manager and on the App Launcher tile. We suggest using Amazon EventBridge.
5. Enter the API name. We suggest using Amazon\_EventBridge.
6. Enter the contact email for Salesforce to use to contact you or your support team.
7. Leave the rest of the Basic Information section blank.
8. In the API (Enable OAuth Settings) section, select **Enable OAuth Settings**.
9. Enter https://login.salesforce.com/services/oauth2/callback as the Callback URL.
10. For the Selected OAuth Scopes, select **Manage user data via APIs (api)**.
11. Deselect **Require Secret for Refresh Token Flow**.
12. Save your changes.
13. Click **Continue**.

Some users see a screen that says changes can take up to 10 minutes to take effect and a warning about deleting a parent org. Move to the next screen by clicking **Continue**.
14. On the Connected App detail page, click **Manage Consumer Details**.

An email is triggered to verify your identity.
15. Copy the verification code from the email and click **Verify**.

Notice that the Consumer Key and Consumer Secret appear in the Connected App API descriptions. When running the Cloud Formation template, copy and paste this Consumer Key and Consumer Secret into the Amazon Web Services Console.
16. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter **Apps**, and select **Manage Connected Apps**.
17. Click **Edit** for the app you created.
18. For the IP Relaxation field, select **Relax IP restrictions**.
19. For Session Policies, choose a Timeout Value that works best for your business needs.

For testing purposes, select 24 hours to reduce errors and assist with troubleshooting. Remember to make the value more restrictive when deploying in production.
20. Save your changes.
